Frog Dares is a colorful platform adventure where a peaceful forest has been taken over by large and aggressive insects. The frogs that once lived there have been forced away, leaving one brave frog to travel through the forest and deal with the creatures causing the trouble.
You move through large side-scrolling areas filled with platforms, water, spikes, insects, coins, and hidden treasure. The frog has no sword or gun. His tongue provides the main attack.
Press X or Ctrl and the frog quickly stretches out his tongue to catch nearby bugs.
Explore More Than the Main Path
Reaching the end of each area is important, but Frog Dares rewards players who look around.
Coins appear across the forest. Jewels, treasure, secrets, and useful bonuses can also hide away from the easiest route. Some valuable areas require you to jump onto platforms that you could otherwise ignore.
The game tracks how much you find, so exploring the complete level gives you a better result than simply racing toward the exit.
Water needs special care because the frog cannot treat every pool as a safe swimming area. Spikes and other hazards can also cost health.
Some parts of the forest include special flowers that launch the frog through the air. These can send you across dangerous gaps or toward higher sections that normal jumps cannot reach.
Catch the Bugs Before They Catch You
The insects are more than decoration.
Mosquitoes, spiders, and other hostile bugs can hurt the frog. Using the tongue from the right distance lets you remove many threats before moving past them.
Different areas encourage you to balance fighting with exploration. You may see coins above you while an insect guards the path below. Another section may hide treasure behind an easy-to-miss route.
The arrow keys control movement and jumping, keeping the controls easy to learn.
Frog Dares is not only about reaching a finish point. The forest contains plenty of things to discover along the way. Eat dangerous bugs, collect the coins, search for hidden treasure, avoid environmental hazards, and help make the forest safe enough for the frogs to return.
