Search the Battlefield Before You Shoot
The Sniper is a World War II shooting game where patience matters as much as good aim. The player takes the role of a British commando sent behind enemy lines shortly before the Allied D-Day landings in Normandy.
Your mission is to locate German soldiers and eliminate every required target before time runs out. The enemies are hidden across large battlefield scenes. Some stand in open areas, while others hide near buildings, trees, windows, or other parts of the landscape.
This makes each mission part shooting game and part visual search challenge.
Instead of firing as soon as the level begins, it helps to study the area first and remember where suspicious soldiers are hiding.
Switch Between the Map and Sniper Scope
The mouse controls aiming and the left mouse button fires the rifle.
Pressing the Space bar switches between the wider map view and the sniper scope. The map provides a better look at the overall area, while the scope lets you zoom in and aim accurately at distant enemies.
Switching views also has another important use. Going back to the map pauses the sniper alert, which can give you time to search for another dangerous target.
The M key opens the mission status screen. This pauses the action and shows how many targets still remain.
Watch Both Timers
The Sniper uses two different bars during a mission.
The white timer shows how much time remains to complete the entire mission. Every required target needs to be eliminated before this bar runs out.
The red bar is more dangerous. It shows how close enemy snipers are to locating your position.
Once hostile snipers start zeroing in, the red bar drops. If they find you first, they can shoot back.
That makes enemy snipers the most important targets to locate early.
Take Out Enemy Snipers First
A useful strategy is to scan the whole battlefield before firing the first shot.
Remember the locations of as many enemies as possible. Once shooting begins, concentrate on hostile snipers before dealing with easier soldiers.
Some targets can be difficult to notice because they blend into the scenery. Careful searching usually works better than moving the scope around at random.
The mission only ends successfully after every required target is gone.
The Sniper keeps its controls simple but creates tension through hidden enemies and the two countdown bars. Players need to search, remember enemy positions, switch between views, take accurate shots, and finish the mission before either time or an enemy sniper brings the operation to an end.
