A Missing Rock Band Case
Harry Quantum 4: DocStar gives Harry another unusual detective job. This case begins when members of the rock band Corned Beef Owls disappear. Percy, the drummer, asks Harry for help after something suspicious happens around Loch Bess.
Harry soon learns that the mystery connects to Doc, the band’s lead guitarist, and a strange castle across the water. Reaching that castle becomes only the beginning of the investigation.
The game follows the familiar point-and-click style of the Harry Quantum series. You use the mouse to explore scenes, collect objects, speak with characters, and solve puzzles.
Turn Odd Items Into Useful Tools
Harry Quantum 4 fills its locations with items that may not have an obvious purpose when you first collect them.
You can find things such as duct tape, a screwdriver, a magnet, an autograph book, a straw, and other unusual objects. Several puzzles ask you to combine or modify items before they become useful.
One part of the adventure involves creating a device that can call the creature living in Loch Bess. Other puzzles involve cameras, locked doors, secret passages, codes, and objects hidden inside the castle.
Careful exploration helps because an object from one area may solve a puzzle somewhere else.
Play as More Than Harry
Harry does not handle every part of the adventure himself. At one point, the game also lets you control Graeme the robot. This gives part of the story a different feel and adds another set of interactions to work through.
The castle contains several rooms and hidden areas. Some doors need codes. Other puzzles require you to study symbols or use collected items in a specific way.
The game also continues the series tradition of hiding PIPs. Finding them is optional, but they reward players who click around and experiment.
Harry Quantum 4: DocStar does not rely on fast reflexes. Progress comes from noticing clues and remembering what you have already seen.
Check every room carefully before moving on. Keep track of unusual symbols and objects. Try combining inventory items when their separate uses seem unclear.
The result is another light detective adventure filled with strange inventions, unusual characters, castle puzzles, and a mystery that becomes much bigger than finding a missing rock band.
