Take Control of the Board
QuaRkZ is a turn-based strategy game about two tiny particles fighting for control of a square grid. You can play against the computer or share the same computer with another player. The aim is to reach the required score by placing particles and taking spaces from your opponent.
Each turn lets you click one square and add a particle. The selected space changes to your color. You can also choose a square owned by the other player. Doing this changes its color and moves its points to your side. Every choice affects the score, so a single move can change which player holds the lead.
Create Nuclear Reactions
A square becomes unstable after it holds enough particles. It then explodes and spreads its power into nearby spaces. This can capture enemy territory and start another explosion. One reaction may lead to several more across the board.
Chain reactions can provide a large number of points. They can also help the other player. Adding a particle near an enemy group may leave a useful opening for the next turn. The game rewards players who think about what happens after the first explosion.
Protect Valuable Areas
Corners and edges deserve close attention because they connect with fewer spaces. The middle of the board offers more directions for a reaction to spread. Neither area stays safe for long once several squares become unstable.
Look for enemy spaces that already contain several particles. Capturing one may give you its full value. Try to build your own connected group without giving the opponent an easy reaction.
QuaRkZ uses only mouse clicks, yet it offers plenty of room for planning. A strong move captures points now and creates a safer position for the next turn.
