Arrange Five Matching Gems

Five in a Row is a gem-arranging puzzle game played on a square board. The goal is to place five gems of the same color in one straight line. A completed line can run horizontally or vertically. Diagonal rows do not count in this version.

A new gem appears outside the main playing area. The player needs to move it around the outer path and choose the best place to send it onto the board. Every placement changes the layout, so careless moves can block a useful row.

Move the Outside Gem

Use the left and right arrow keys to move the waiting gem around the outside of the board. The outer path lets you approach the grid from different sides. Once the gem reaches the correct position, press the down arrow key to place it.

The gem enters the board from that side. It may push into an open position based on the selected row or column. Players should check the entire line before dropping it. A gem placed on the wrong side may end up far from its matching colors.

Complete Horizontal and Vertical Lines

Try to bring matching gems together while keeping enough space for later moves. A row with four matching colors only needs one more gem, but another piece may block the best entry point.

Look for chances in several parts of the board. Focusing on one row can make you miss an easier vertical match. The next gem may also work better in a different area.

Earn a Higher Score

Five in a Row records your score, time, and level. Creating matching lines raises the score and helps you continue. Later stages require better planning as the board becomes harder to manage.

The game gives you time to think before each move. Study the gem color, inspect every possible entry point, and choose the placement that supports more than one future line. Five in a Row uses simple arrow-key controls, but strong scores require careful positioning and forward planning.
