In We Are Legend you control a rock band that fights zombies using music and crazy traps. The zombies walk in from the side, and you see note marks that show when you need to use each trap. You hold the right key to arm a trap, then hit another key at the right moment to blast the zombies. When you time it well, they fly into spinning blades, walk into fire, or get grabbed by a big hyena.
You watch several lanes at once, so your fingers and eyes have to work together. You keep an eye on the coming notes, hold the right keys, then press the fire key when they line up. Each good hit fills a special bar. When that bar fills, you use another key to clear the screen and give yourself a short rest while the next part of the song plays.
Between songs you can use the points you earned to buy new gear that makes your traps stronger and helps you stay alive longer. The game is fast and a bit loud, but it stays on the silly side, with over-the-top traps and cartoon zombies.
