Bigger Battles With More Ways to Fight
Chaos Faction 2 takes the arena fighting idea of the first game and expands it with new characters, weapons, stages, attacks, and customization. The campaign contains 15 levels split across three zones, with five challenges in each zone.
The fights remain quick and chaotic. Characters jump around platforms, punch opponents, grab weapons, and try to knock enemies out before taking too much damage themselves.
The controls also provide more options than before. Left and right move the character. Up jumps and can perform a double jump. Down can shield or stomp. Z and X handle the main attacks. Players can drop a weapon with D and use Shift with a weapon for a close-range attack.
Travel Through Three Campaign Zones
Campaign Mode is divided into three groups of stages.
Each zone contains four regular challenges followed by a final stage that becomes available after the earlier fights are completed.
The missions are not all simple one-on-one battles. One level has the player dealing with local bullies. Another involves fighting invading monkeys. There are also zombies, gladiators, knights, aliens, and other unusual opponents as the campaign moves forward.
Completing stages can unlock characters and weapons, which gives players more choices outside the campaign as well.
Create Your Own Chaos in Deathmatch
Deathmatch gives the player much more control over the battle.
You can choose the arena, fighters, teams, and match rules. Different victory types include staying alive until everyone else is gone, reaching a set number of knockouts, or scoring the most eliminations before time runs out.
Chaos Faction 2 also introduces Plunger Match. Instead of simply defeating everyone, players compete to hold the plunger for the required amount of time.
Fight Until You Cannot Continue
Survival Mode keeps sending enemies into the arena and makes the challenge harder as the fight continues. The goal is to defeat as many opponents as possible and build a strong score before being overwhelmed.
The sequel also adds an improved level editor, a more detailed character editor, achievements, unlockable match options, and offline multiplayer.
Chaos Faction 2 feels larger than the first game without making the basic idea confusing. Players can work through 15 campaign challenges, create custom battles, test themselves in Survival, build characters, experiment with levels, and discover many different weapons. The extra movement options and improved hand-to-hand fighting also make close battles much more active.
