Find Hidden Words in a Grid of Letters

Word Grid is an educational word puzzle game where you search for words hidden inside a square filled with letters. Your goal is to create as many valid English words as possible before the timer runs out.

The puzzle contains 16 letter tiles arranged in four rows and four columns.

You need to connect neighboring letters to spell words. The letters do not always appear in a straight line, so you must look in different directions to find them.

Word Grid challenges your vocabulary, spelling, and ability to recognize letter combinations.

Connect Letters to Make Words

The main challenge in Word Grid is finding words containing three to eight letters.

You can connect letters horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.

For example, imagine that the letters C, A, R, and E appear next to each other in the correct positions.

You can select them in order to form the word CARE.

A line appears between the selected letters, showing the word you are building.

You can then click the final letter again to submit your answer.

The game checks whether the word is valid before adding it to your completed word list.

Find Longer Words to Earn More Points

Word Grid rewards you for discovering words with more letters.

Short words can help increase your score, but longer words are worth more points.

For example, finding a six-letter word gives you a better reward than finding a shorter word.

Try looking for familiar endings such as -ING, -ED, or -ER.

These letter combinations can help you recognize longer words hidden among the tiles.

You may also discover several words that begin with the same letters.

Watch the Timer and Complete Your Word List

A countdown timer appears above the letter grid.

You need to find as many words as possible before your time runs out.

Every accepted word appears in a list beside the puzzle, allowing you to keep track of your discoveries.

Finding a word with five or more letters also reveals helpful information about remaining words.

The game shows blank spaces indicating the lengths of words you have not discovered.

Finding every valid word earns an additional bonus.

How to Play Word Grid

Use your mouse to select letters on the board.

Click one letter to begin a word. Continue selecting neighboring letters in the correct order.

You can move horizontally, vertically, or diagonally while forming the word.

After completing a word, click its final letter again to submit it.

A correct word appears in your completed list, and you can begin searching for another.

The same letter tiles remain available for building other words.

Improve Your Vocabulary and Spelling

Start by searching for short, familiar words. Look for common combinations such as AT, IN, and ON that can become parts of longer words.

Try scanning the grid from different directions. Some words are easier to recognize when you begin near a corner.

After finding one word, check the neighboring letters to see whether you can create a longer version.

Word Grid gives children a way to practice spelling and discover new English words. The timer adds a challenge, while the word list helps you follow your progress as you search for more answers.
